Actress Says Winds Aggravating CA Wildfires “Due to Climate Change”

Hollywood icon Barbra Streisand recently expressed her views on social media, attributing the catastrophic wildfires in California, at least in part, to “climate change.” In the aftermath of these fires, which have ravaged tens of thousands of acres, destroyed numerous structures, and resulted in at least 16 fatalities, some individuals on the left have identified climate change as a significant factor.

In a post on BlueSky, a platform that has attracted many liberals seeking refuge from Elon Musk’s promotion of free speech on X, Streisand suggested that the fierce winds fueling the fires may be linked to climate change. She stated, “These terrible winds I believe are the strongest we’ve ever encountered, and much of that is attributable to climate change, which the upcoming government must address!”

However, Streisand faced criticism in the comments section. One user remarked, “Why does a scientist appointed by Obama to the Department of Energy during his administration disagree? Exploring the insights of this scientist, Steven Koonin, could be enlightening.” Another comment stated, “The incompetence of California’s leadership is astonishing. We all know you don’t subscribe to the climate change narrative, and we understand why you promote this agenda.”

Others highlighted that strong winds in the area are not a recent occurrence. One contrasting comment noted, “The Santa Ana winds occur EVERY YEAR. The hills ignite EVERY YEAR. This has been happening for CENTURIES. Yet, let’s blame ‘climate change’ because prioritizing funding for illegal immigrants and pet projects is more important than ensuring the SAFETY OF CITIZENS for Democrats.”

In recent days, Streisand has made several additional posts regarding the ongoing natural disaster. She remarked, “We will miss President Biden’s commitment and compassion during these challenging times. He understands that in moments of national crisis, we are not divided by political affiliations,” before criticizing Trump. “Trump is indifferent to California because he did not secure the electoral college here. We need a president.”

Barbra Streisand expressed her heartfelt condolences to those who have been compelled to evacuate or have suffered significant losses, stating, “I understand the fear and anxiety associated with evacuations and the uncertainty regarding the fate of one’s home during a natural disaster. Several of my close friends and colleagues have tragically lost their residences. I am thankful for their safety and for the courageous efforts of the LAFD. My heart aches for all my neighbors and for our cherished city.”

In contrast to the dominant liberal perspective, individuals on the right have attributed the crisis to ineffective leadership in California. President-elect Donald Trump recently commented on Truth Social, “The fires continue to rage in L.A. The incompetent politicians have no understanding of how to extinguish them. Thousands of beautiful homes have been destroyed, and many more are at risk. There is devastation everywhere. This represents one of the worst disasters in our nation’s history. They simply cannot control the fires. What is wrong with them?”
